went to dinner with my mom to the san francisco bar and grill where we dint rally eat

but i had the seafood linguini which was super heavy but good

then around 10, nica, autumn, and nick show up at the la fonda

i gave them my box of food

had some cookies

then a crowd of meth heads emerge from the la fonda and ask HAVE YOU SEEN A GUY RUNNING PAST HERE

and we were like no

and all these dudes in wifebeaters and jerseys run out in all directions and we quickly got into nica's car and drove around

saw all of them sprawling around downtown

then went to atomic grill where i left this review:

Food was fine, I guess, but the service was just plain awful. We only ordered two drinks and an appetizer to share and it took an hour. We waited for the check but it took so long that we stood near the counter for five minutes and then we saw our waiter hugging and saying hello to his friends. Then we went back to the table, left money, and left. The waiter then chased after us and started screaming at us that we were a dollar short on the bill and that we should tip him. He began to curse, insult us and threaten to call the cops, and demanded a "non-shitty tip" and asked if any of us have ever worked in food. We paid off the bill, left a dollar tip, and walked away and he continued to yell about how we would never be allowed back in. Don't worry, buddy, it's never gonna happen again. And I hope those customers sitting outside in your area enjoyed the little spectacle you created.

corey and montana got on my nerves because they had the burdensome task of finding people to get photos, but you know what, im the printer and editer, if you want to run the show, go ahead. tell kitty and then make it clear from the start, otherwise, we have to follow through.

the bidding war over veronica adam's purse was great haha

and keri ataumbi and robin waynee's collab auction was lovely :)

especially on tailinh, and with keri taking it and putting it on the bidding ladies' necks :)

fine, royale, don't do it next year. if tom ford enjoyed it enough to tell the press that he'd be willing to do it again without persuasion, maybe we shouldn't get some small-time news anchorwoman complaining how she doesnt have a goddamn teleprompter--hey, that's how life goes, kind of unscripted, funny how that turns out huh? i hate people who don't understand the time and place and just how much work it takes to put anything up, and clothing contest isn't exactly the venue to get all diva-ish (stupid jhane and royale)

definitely tried to meet everyone but it failed because i overslept x-x

then the lights int eh convention center went out because of the thunderstorm. INSANITY! i thought when they came back on, all the jewelry would be gone and the basket gone hahaha. we had a good laugh about it haha

well i finally got back to the room when janet hoffmann (sp) and tilden hoffmann gave me a ride back to the hotel and told me about their 13 cats. seriously, indian market man.

the works in the art contest put in that room

made the best art show i could never find in any other museum or gallery

these objects were the best of these artists, and i could feel the love, care, precision, in each piece, in each person's hand. it was amazing, and these were all center pieces as far as im concerned.

also, shirley maclaine and julia cameron (author of The Artist's Way and Martin Scorsese's second wife) sat at the next table

got on the late bus home and chilled :)

last night was nice, i had palacio tomato and mozzerella melt with turkey, and i saved half that sandwich for dinner

we also ordered a half thing of chicken nachos which was really huge and good :) fresh pico de gallo, guacamole, etc.

took the bus home and christine bought me nesquik and honey bunches of oats for dinner haha

and then nica came over to dry her laundry and hang out and today she turned 25, happy birthday nica!!

poor thing seems so haggard because of the summer but at least billy is putting a smile on her face :)

tuesday and today

tuesday was just kind of weird

i woke up really late and said FUUUUCK and got christine to drive me

i missed half of our staff meeting, and apparently im put on projects that i didnt fully hear

on top of that, right after we had a meeting about the clothing contest and good lord no one wants to do anything for it, it just seems like such a nuisance. jhane flaked out hard because of a whole bunch of stuff, and she's on her way to being just jhane myers, not jhane myers noisecat. apparently that's been her personal burden that's made an excuse to flake out on this.

gomeo is such a sweetheart, it's too bad he's all the way out in zuni...

the meeting fell apart so quickly, bruce just left it, we couldnt get gomeo or henry on speaker

then nothing came together and all we did was complain about how we cant fnd the supply list from last year

i am so done with the shittiness of other people

lisa got fired, she's gone, so now we're dealing with that

for lunch i got $15 ramen...it was okay. 3 pieces of meat, one sliver of a shitake mushroom. i hate santa fe when it comes to food.

If You Taka My Space I Breaka You Face--NYC Weekend (07/28-08/01)

didn't update my blog because i wasnt in the city different but in so many cities due to my layovers (atlanta mostly, a bit in cincinnati) all to get to the empire state, the big apple, to my love

fantastic weekend

surprised my darling at a turkish restaurant on 34th and 3rd, which was painful to get to due to my huge backpack and aerobed, but andrew and cheng helped me

met robert and michael and waited for fardeen and travis to show

hehe priceless face that's for sure, as though an apparition was in front of him

the layovers were okay, got a lot of people asking me about the tinsel and the perled necklace

people helped me with my bags which was nice

nothing like being back in muggy smelly new york

missed those buildings and the green, oh the green is magical :)

then i spent all of friday with my love, walking around and from chinatown to riverside park to ktown

saturday was spent with fardeen and his friends at jones beach, which was nice

funnily enough i sat next to tanay tatum on the flight from newark to cincinnati and we chatted, talked about our lovely boyfriends, generally met for the first time haha. small world

cincinnati to atlanta was in a bigger plane thank god and i was asleep for half of it haha

atlanta to albuquerque was a blur because i fell asleep but i remember the plane being really nice

and the ride from albuquerque to santa fe was cool because nica and i chatted, and stopped by a gas station to get some snacks and then getting home and having christine run out and be like THANK GOD, PEOPLE LIVE HERE!

heard someone go through the gate RIGHT OUTSIDE my window, and realized that leena's friends' car was still outside so 1) ew 2) thank god i didnt hear leena's voice then

felt very happy talking to a certain hairy pudgy marsupial who is on a plane right now, probably scaring everyone around him because of how dark he is (so much love, i swear :D)

realized i missed my bus so i waited a bit

then began walking out on that road again

and a car pulled up behind me and was like "hey do you need a ride?"

situation: nice woman in sunglasses in a toyota, not sketch construction man.

answer: sure? to the bus stop?

her: well im headed downtown, i can easily drop you off.

and so began my encounter with Martha, the woman who lives in a casita in my neighborhood haha

she's been living in the neighborhood for 3 years, and never really met anyone because there's been such a shift, people moving in and out so quickly she figured no one was on a lease at my house.

very shrewd observation, Martha.

now she knows who is the reason why for the recent past, as does everyone i've encountered

Martha's really nice, she works for a foundation that brings writers and gives them grants

she too lived in new york for 15 years when it was affordable to just be young and have your own studio

she was really sweet im glad she gave me a ride to work.

Woke up at 9:30am and had to shake myself awake enough to conduct the phone interview with Victoria Adams at 10am. That phone interview lasted about an hour and half and it became a conversation between me and her about technology and she just told me about everything in her life, all these anecdotes and she was so great :)

Waited, then woke up Christine because I got Nica's text that she was up and called Wal-Mart, no one turned in the key.

I tidied up my papers and I need to start using binder clips for my research

It sucks but my dvd of Teri Greeves Interview doesn't work so I have to watch it at work and then make note of what questions I should ask. I really should print out her other materials like the artist statement and the resume.

At 1, I did my phone interview with Pat Pruitt, who told me one of the questions was borderline offensive, which says a lot because that essentially is his answer--

Nica came and took Christine to Wal-Mart and see if the car was still there (still was, so Christine called and waited for a tow truck)

Then Nica came back and picked me up and I went over to the Soft Museum where I helped her clean up and oh my god it was so overwhelming, both her and Nick were just on the verge of anger and tears it was so :(

But we got a lot done in an hour which is good yayyyy

Got a raspberry iced tea and bag of salsa-flavored fritos (i dont know, it was a on-the-fly decision)

Talked with nica until about 4pm, then got picked up by Tailinh and now im in Starbucks on wifi and "doing work" but yeah

after starbucks i went to nick's dad's house for nick's sister's birthday party/bbq

Woke up at 7am and thought it was a work day so I got up to get ready, realized it was Saturday, and went back to sleep.

then went to Wal-Mart and I bought a plastic sandwich container for the lols and it was a $1 and I can't stop laughing at it because the small things in life amuse me :)

thank god my phone and camera had full battery, i was even able to pull up the volkswagen dealership in santa fe

and now we're in the house talking to a lovely lady officer about the whole situation :)

that officer was actually pretty gorgeous for a santa fe cop

seriously? that sparked a very very very long conversation about crime, race groups, bad blood, weather, and just fucked up ness where christine and i stood outside of our house, bathed in moonlight, her smoking the rest of her camel crushes, me looking up at the cloudy sky and stars

we talked for hours until we got cold, which was probably around 1 or so, then sat at the kitchen table and talked until literally 3am about how negative and positive energy, how life is just full of bullshit which is why people like leena should just stop because it's so easy to look at the negative, point it out, make it worse, but its finding the positive that is harder, better, and healthier

leena just does need to stop. i said to myself "okay today is the last day i feel upset about this and talk about" and it's half-true--i do need to tell bruce about it come monday morning, but i honestly dont feel bad about it now

i look forward to moving out :)

spent 4:30pm to 8:00pm with gael, playing in the dirt, protecting him from dogs, reading books, and watching him pretend to be a bird with a little lifejacket

lena left me with some food and drove me home

and now its THUNDERSTORMING ~~

im sad i didnt get to go to the train party last night but i gotta say i was pretty beat, overstuffed with chinese mall food, and im sad because a certain hairy one is on a flight, getting farther and farther away from me :(

Rainbow's Treasures

Woke up way too early this morning, like 7am early and I dont know why

Forced myself to go back to sleep and woke up again at 1pm

Got up, had another croque monsieur with tomatoes, pomegranate limeade and talked with christine

essentially christine and i spent the entire day together

we left to go to wells fargo for her to pick up money, shopping at Ross and TJMaxx (yay for neon skirts and too-big dresses), went for drinks at Burrito Spot (seriously nica, i have a serious horchata addiction), went up to the Museum Hill for the Folk Art Festival but it was over by the time we got there so we're going tomorrow, then to the mall which had its own Carnival!

yayyy so many scary rides

it was pretty apocalyptic looking as the backdrop to teh carnival was the red clouds and smoke from the fire o_O

we went into the mall, laughed at things at Hot Topic, then went shopping in Payless (Yay $5 shoes)

then after that we got dinner at the chinese takeout place at the mall and Steven gave me a full meal for $3.78 o_O;

we got home and leena lectured us in a towel about she found the door wide open, the windows all open, and how she has $20,000 worth of equipment. a $4000 camera? no, leena, the t31 is an $900 camera at most and maybe you shouldn't be leaving the fucking instruction booklet on the kitchen table for the world to see, or your android phone on the fucking windowsill. que maricona (thanks nick haha)

i can't wait for christine to have a talk with her

had dinner, feeling a bit too nauseous and downbeat for the train party
